Who We Are & What We Do
ncyouth.jpgNorth Connaught Youth & Community Service Ltd was founded in the 1960’s as the Sligo Federation of Youth Clubs, changing it’s name and legal status in 1988. NCYCS is now a company limited by guarantee and is a registered charity, owned by the youth groups and projects affiliated to it.  NCYCS is affiliated to Youth Work Ireland. NCYCS is a regional youth service provider covering Sligo, Leitrim and Mayo. It's aims are:

  • To support the development of young people
  • To enable them to take greater control of their own lives by making decisions
  • To exercise responsibility and contributing to the development of both their community and their society 

Mission Statement

"To affirm the importance of young people and support them and those who work with them through the provision of services in their communities" including

  • Mainline Youth Service
  • Youth Information Service – centre based and outreach
  • Special Projects aimed at rural disadvantage in Leitrim and Mayo
  • Garda Youth Diversion Programmes in Sligo, Ballina and Castlebar
  • Programmes for adult leaders including child protection, bullying, suicide, drugs, challenging behaviour, etc.
  • Health Promotion programmes  and Issue based workshops– raising awareness among young people, volunteers, parents and the general public on issues such as drugs, alcohol, hiv, etc.
  • Teen Between Support service -  a listening, advise and support service for young people who are experiencing difficulties as a result of their parents separation/divorce
  • Inter-club activities
  • Summer Camps
  • Youth Club Support work
  • Certificate in Youth & Community Studies – in partnership with Sligo Institute of Technology
  • International Youth Exchanges
