The Comhairle na nÓg National Showcase 2025 took place in Dublin Castle on 15th April this year. It was a great day full of energy and ideas as more than 400 young people from all 31 Comhairlí came together to share the work they’ve done over the past two years and to connect face-to-face with decision-makers on local and national issues.
Our Leitrim Comhairle members are currently working to advocate for more mental health services in Leitrim, in particular a dedicated youth mental health service. Our Comhairle is highlighting that young people in Leitrim facing mental health challenges have no local, youth specific supports and Leitrim Comhairle na nÓg members are determined to change this & ensure that young people in Leitrim have equal access to mental health support.
Leitrim Comhairle will continue working with Jigsaw to explore opportunities for jointly delivering youth mental health services in the county. They plan to maintain strong links with councillors, TDs, MEPs, and key stakeholders to keep youth voices at the centre of local decision making. Securing funding will be a key focus, with efforts centred on advocacy and building strategic partnerships. To keep momentum going, the group will continue speaking at events and ensuring the issue stays firmly on the agenda.
